Marked is going against the grain by making goods from scratched, branded, and scuffed pieces generally considered scrap by the leather industry. Because it’s these markings, says founder Scott Loeser, that hold a richer history than their flawless counterparts, and they make each product unique. Marked was recently launched in Northeast Minneapolis by Loeser and business partner Rhea O’Connor, who met in the first graduating class of the Makers Coalition, a group that educates artisan sewers. They hand-make each bag or accessory as orders come in through their online shop, piecing together tote bags, satchels, wallets, and more.
